Members of the Chelsea hierarchy are “pushing” to secure the services of Julian Nagelsmann, according to journalist Rudy Galetti.

What's the latest manager news at Chelsea?

Following Todd Boehly sacking Graham Potter last weekend, there have been several names doing the rounds of who could be appointed as his long-term successor in the Premier League.

The Blues board are reportedly keen to speak to up to five different candidates and most recently held face-to-face talks with Luis Enrique, who flew into London for a meeting at Stamford Bridge. Nagelsmann has been one of the most popular to have been linked and is likely to be a leading contender for the job having already held several meetings himself.

On Thursday, Frank Lampard was confirmed as interim manager until the end of the season, with the likes of Ashley Cole joining his backroom coaching staff, but despite having the short-term affairs sorted out, there will still be plenty of work going on in the background when it comes to finding the next permanent manager to enter the dugout.

Taking to Twitter, Galetti revealed that whilst Chelsea’s discussions with Enrique were extremely promising, Nagelsmann very much remains the preferred choice.

He wrote: “Despite the positive feeling with Luis Enrique, a new meeting between Nagelsmann and Chelsea is expected soon. The former Bayern Munich coach is still the first choice and part of the CFC board is pushing for him.”

Is Nagelsmann the ideal man to take charge at Chelsea?

Nagelsmann secured three trophies during his time at Bayern Munich – the German Super Cup twice along with the Bundesliga title, while he was previously named Manager of the Year back in 2016/17, as per Transfermarkt, so he would definitely be a perfect candidate to take over the reins at Chelsea.

The Blues' managerial target had a remarkable record over the period that he spent at the Allianz Arena, not just winning the silverware as mentioned above, but also with consistently positive results. The 35-year-old won 60, drew 14 and lost just ten of his 84 games in charge before being given his marching orders whilst averaging 2.31 points per match – form which would have any team competing at the top end of the table at the very least.

Chelsea could always have a change of heart and keep Lampard on beyond the summer should he be able to make a significantly positive impact between now and the end of the season, but the hierarchy appear keen to make a long-term appointment, and should that be the case, we think Nagelsmann would be the ideal candidate to make the move to SW6.

The Belgian has been solid so far during his short spell in Glasgow, particularly impressing during the recent Old Firm derby defeat last weekend.

Joshua Barrie dubbed the 5 foot 10 midfielder as a “stand-out” following his performance and he managed to be one of the better performers against Celtic which bodes well heading into the future.

Indeed, in just five league games so far for the club, Raskin is already averaging 51 touches and holds a pass success rate of 86%, embodying Ferguson who was the master at controlling the ball and dictating play through a variety of passes.

The 22-year-old is also able to attack and defend at will, managing to succeed with 75% of his attempted dribbles while chipping in with two tackles per game.

Indeed, the former Rangers captain loved to get forward as often as possible, evidenced by the fact he scored 43 times for the club, whereas he enjoyed the challenge of screening the back four when necessary too.

It is still far too early in Raskin’s career to be putting pressure on him to be the next Ferguson, however early impressions suggest he has all the attributes to be the player that the club have required for a long time.

Everton are a club that have truly fallen into disrepute, having become something of a laughing stock within the Premier League due to their dramatic downturn.

With countless funds wasted and a second relegation battle in as many seasons ongoing, the once great club are in very serious threat of making their first trip to the Championship since 1951.

Having only mustered 13 appearances thus far for the Toffees, there was an initial expectation that Lampard would be the perfect man to reignite the midfielder's faltering career. Previously starring under Mauricio Pochettino, particularly during his 18-goal and nine-assist season in 2016, his fall from grace was evident in the final half of a season in north London, which brought about just one league goal.

Whether it be through the terror his fee might incur, or simply a lack of faith in his abilities anymore, Alli has been completely frozen out of the first team picture this year.

His latest scandal is sure to only see that intensify, with Sean Dyche unlikely to be receptive to such recklessness.

TalkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan was quick to lambast the maestro, with his latest scathing rant exacerbating his failures: "Dele Alli, for two or three years now, has wasted everybody’s time. His own, his employers’, his teammates’. He’s a shadow of himself and he’s chosen this path.

"He turns up on a pitch looking like a refugee as I said before,” Jordan added. "An escapee is a better word, from Pirates of the Caribbean."

To further outline such a decline, the £100k-per-week flop has unsurprisingly seen his value plummet too. Standing at a once admirable €22m (£19.3m) upon joining, that figure has since halved to just €11m (£9.6m) and only seems set to fall further.

With a future seemingly wasted that had promised so much, Dyche must give up on Lampard's failed experiment and get rid of Alli this summer.

This season the teenage sensation has enjoyed a first full campaign within the senior game, featuring on loan for Real Oviedo. Although just one assist in 13 games might suggest a poor year, the club's president, Martin Pelaez, has been quick to defend the wide man.

This comes a year after the speedster had recorded six goals and two assists in 11 U18 Premier League games, and a further five goal contributions in just ten Premier League 2 appearances. Clearly, the forward is a cut above the youth level.

With Balogun's sudden emergence after a tough prior loan in the Championship, perhaps Flores will see the progression of his former teammate and seek to emulate it. There is no rush to become the next big thing, but the fearless youngster who is already a full international has all the pieces in place to become it.
