Diego acabou sentindo a lesão.

Report claims Chelsea are in talks to sign "outstanding" young gem for Poch

Chelsea are a beacon of offering young talent a chance to flourish and are now allegedly negotiating a swoop involving one of the world's most exciting prospects.

Chelsea's youthful squad…

Since Todd Boehly and company arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2022, not much has changed regarding the Blues' commitment to pulling off extravagant signings for large sums of money, which was also a common feature of the Roman Abramovich era in west London. What has changed is the nature of the players that Chelsea have brought in and the vision that the club's hierarchy has unilaterally deployed since their tenure began.

Bringing in stars of the future has become the aim for the Blues and their squad complexion is now among the youngest in the Premier League, with an average age of just 23.9 across the board. Digging a little deeper into Mauricio Pochettino's first team, Transfermarkt show the median age for every key position. In the goalkeeping department, the mean is 25.50 while his defensive options combined are on average 24.33 years old.

Poch must unleash “outstanding” £50k-p/w Chelsea machine ahead of Sterling

Mauricio Pochettino must start this Chelsea man for the game against the Toffees if he drops Raheem Sterling to the bench.

ByKelan Sarson Dec 10, 2023

Midfield is the youngest area of the Argentinian's roster at 21.50. At the same time, Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja alongside others in attack sit at 22.33, indicating that there has been a major culture shift at Chelsea as they look to build for the long-term.

Undoubtedly, this plan will take time to fully get off the ground, something which is evidenced by the fact that they languish in mid-table. The EFL Cup could be an avenue for the Blues to claim some silverware this campaign, though they will need to see off Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge later this month to put themselves in with a chance.

Looking ahead, it now seems as if Chelsea are negotiating another move for a young star as Pochettino continues to shape his side for the coming years.

Chelsea negotiating Estevao Willian deal

According to a report from GOAL, Chelsea are negotiating with Palmerias regarding a potential deal for young star Estevao Willian and have indicated in talks with the Brazilian side that they could be willing to fork out €40 million (£34.3 million) to sign the 16-year-old.

The outlet claim that the Blues are looking to replicate a similar deal for that of Real Madrid-bound wonderkid Endrick, who will join the La Liga giants once he turns 18. Palmeiras hold 70% of Willian's rights and the other 30% are retained by the player himself. Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona all signalled their interest in the winger; however, they failed to make progress in their own respective talks.

Talent scout Jacek Kulig has taken a shine to the player and labelled him as an "outstanding talent" on social media platform X, demonstrating his unique potential that has alerted some of Europe's elite clubs.

Chelsea may hope to put their best foot forward in negotiations as Pochettino aims to recruit yet another prodigious talent to add to his extensive list at Stamford Bridge.

Allrounder Wiaan Mulder has been added to South Africa’s squad for the fifth and final ODI against Pakistan.Mulder picked up an Achilles tendon injury during South Africa’s limited overs series against Zimbabwe at the end of September and only completed his rehabilitation in the new year. He returned to action for his domestic franchise Lions in the 4-Day competition in January, striking a career-best 146 against Knights last week.Mulder, 20, has played seven ODIs with limited success, but his inclusion in the squad suggests that he is in the frame as South Africa seek to fill the vital no. 7 allrounder’s position in their one-day side ahead of the World Cup in England. He has also been named in South Africa’s T20I squad to face Pakistan, a format he is uncapped in, but faces stiff competition as allrounders Andile Phehlukwayo and Chris Morris are also part of the T20I squad.Phehlukwayo has played in all four ODIs against Pakistan so far, his career-best efforts with bat and ball in Durban helping to secure a win. Morris, 31, was part of South Africa’s limited-overs touring party in Australia late last year, taking 2 for 12 in South Africa’s T20I win at the Carrara Oval, but hasn’t played an ODI since India’s visit in early 2018.

Arteta could land Arsenal’s next Bergkamp in £86m-rated "animal"

As Arsenal's recent loss to West Ham United proved, Mikel Arteta's side are still seemingly lacking that cutting edge in front of goal, having failed to convert any of their 30 attempts on goal during that 2-0 defeat.

With Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah scoring just eight Premier League goals between them this season, the focus is perhaps understandably on whether a new centre-forward addition could be acquired in 2024 – either next month or in the summer.

Mikel Arteta is desperate to increase his attacking options in January.

ByTom Lever Dec 29, 2023

While much has been made of the Gunners' interest in Ivan Toney, the latest indication is that the title hopefuls are also keeping tabs on Inter Milan talisman, Lautaro Martinez.

Arsenal transfer news – Lautaro Martinez

According to a report from CBS reporter James Benge earlier this week, the World Cup winner is among a handful of strikers that are on Arsenal's 'radar' at present, with the 26-year-old joined on that shortlist by Napoli's Victor Osimhen and Bayer Leverkusen's Victor Boniface – as well as Toney.

As Benge notes, the loss to the Hammers has heightened the desire to see a new number nine acquired in January, although none of Boniface, Osimhen or Martinez are likely to be available in the winter window.

That ensures that the north London outfit may have to bide their time until the end of the season to land the Argentine – who is valued at €100m (£86m), as per CIES Football Observatory – although it could well prove worth the wait.

Lautaro Martinez could be the next Dennis Bergkamp

It would not be the first time that Arsenal have signed a high-profile forward from the Serie A side in the Premier League era, if Martinez was to sign, having memorably snapped up Dutch legend Dennis Bergkamp from Inter back in 1995.

Then-boss Bruce Rioch signed off on the £7.5m transfer of the one-time Ajax man, with such a deal ultimately proving a real bargain as Bergkamp dazzled over the next decade or so, proving instrumental in that golden period under Arsene Wenger.

In 315 Premier League appearances, the now-retired ace – who helped the Gunners to claim three league titles – scored 87 goals and contributed 94 assists in that time, illustrating his devastating quality as both a great goalscorer and an unselfish provider.

While Martinez is arguably more of an out-and-out marksman in contrast to Bergkamp, he too also combines a clinical nature in front of goal with an ability to tee up others, scoring 119 goals and registering 40 assists in 261 games for his current side.

Adorning the number ten shirt at San Siro – the number which Bergkamp famously wore during his time in England – the in-demand talent also shares a likeness with the Dutchman as he typically operates with another striker, partnering Romelu Lukaku, Edin Dzeko and Marcus Thuram in recent years.

Bergkamp, of course, struck up a telepathic connection with Thierry Henry at Highbury to form a formidable striking duo under Wenger, with Henry lauding him as a "dream for a striker" due to his selfless nature and innate genius on the ball.

That praise is no doubt akin to what the Inter man has been subject to in recent times, with Football Italia's Richard Hall writing that the £134k-per-week sharpshooter 'manages to be everybody's perfect partner', be it Dzeko, Lukaku etc, despite also finding the net himself.

dennis-bergkamp-arsenal-transfer-wenger-karim-benzema-real-madrid

Arteta may have to reshuffle his front line in order to accommodate the former Racing Club man and get the best out of him, yet snapping up Martinez – who has 15 goals and four assists in just 16 Serie A games this term – could well have shades of the deal that saw Bergkamp arrive almost 30 years ago.

If the free-scoring "animal" – as described by national team boss, Lionel Scaloni – could get anywhere close to emulating the Arsenal icon, it would be some signing indeed.

Arsenal could land Zinchenko upgrade in £24m gem who "moves like messi"

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is preparing his side for their second clash against Liverpool in the space of two weeks.

This time, it is the FA Cup in which the two heavyweights clash and the Spaniard will be eyeing up a win over the Anfield side as he aims for a second triumph in the competition as manager of the Gunners.

With the January transfer window in full swing, Arteta is also focussing on bolstering his squad, and he appears to be targeting a Turkish defender with regard to a potential move.

Arsenal could sign the next Timber in "insane" £86m gem

The 17-year-old could anchor Arsenal’s backline for over a decade.

ByJack Salveson Holmes Jan 5, 2024 Arsenal transfer news – Ferdi Kadıoğlu

According to a report from Turkish outlet Sabah earlier this week, the north Londoners are preparing to travel to Turkey next week in order to sign Fenerbahçe left-back Ferdi Kadıoğlu.

The Turkish side currently values the defender at €30m (£24m) and, given just how light Arsenal are in this area, with Oleksandr Zinchenko the only senior left-back in the squad, it could represent decent business.

Turkey and Fenerbahce defender Ferdi Kadioglu.

The Dutch-born Turkish international is only 24 and not only could he add much-needed competition, but he could even be an upgrade on Zinchenko.

Ferdi Kadıoğlu could be an upgrade on Oleksandr Zinchenko

Not only has Kadıoğlu registered a higher shots on target percentage domestically this season (28.6% vs 15.4%) than Zinchenko, but he has also registered more crosses (40 vs 24) and this indicates that he could be a much better-attacking option than the Ukrainian player.

The Turkish defender has also created more big chances (five vs three) and has averaged more key passes per game (1.6 vs 1.1) which is further evidence that he is a greater threat further up the field.

Kadıoğlu has kept eight clean sheets in the league this term, along with making 0.9 interceptions per game and winning 6.3 total duels per game. Over the same metrics, Zinchenko has kept just two clean sheets, made 0.7 interceptions per game and won 3.9 total duels each match, suggesting that the Fenerbahçe defender could even be an upgrade defensively.

Throughout the course of his career, the Ukrainian full-back has scored just six goals and registered 23 assists, taking 233 matches to achieve this.

On the other hand, Kadıoğlu has found the back of the net 28 times and grabbed a further 36 assists across 242 matches and if Arteta is looking for more goal contributions to come from his fullbacks, making a move for the Turkish international is a no-brainer.

Indeed, the 24-year-old was praised recently by content publisher Gooner Chris following a stunning strike for his club side, saying: “This guy is a full-back yet he moves like Messi. Ferdi Kadioglu to Arsenal. Who says no?”

Arteta needs to bolster some areas of his squad during the January transfer window and the chance to lure Kadioglu to north London is a must if he looks to achieve glory of any sort this season.

At just £24m, the move wouldn’t break the bank and give the squad a much-needed boost in defence as they prepare for a crucial few months ahead.

From 0-2 down, Khawaja, Zampa, Cummins and Handscomb stun India

Jasprit Bumrah’s discipline and wickets shared among the rest meant that the Australians lost 6 for 54 in 77 balls in the final overs

The Report by Daniel Brettig13-Mar-20195:01

India’s middle order still a concern?

A decade ago Australia won an ODI series in India despite a surfeit of injuries. Numerous stronger sides have left empty handed since then, so it was with a great deal of satisfaction that Aaron Finch’s team sealed this victory from 0-2 down, the first time an Australian side had ever done so in 50-over matches, with a disciplined, determined and tactically astute defence of 272 in Delhi.Being 0-2 down is something the Australians have become used to in more than one sense over the past year, missing the names of David Warner and Steven Smith from their team sheet as a result of the Newlands scandal. But there was much to be savoured in winning a series over one of the World Cup fancies in the final assignment before the Smith and Warner bans expire at the end of this month. Their reintegration meeting in the UAE later this week will take place in the afterglow of a first series victory in seven attempts dating back to January 2017, at the same time inflicting India’s first home ODI defeat since 2015.ESPNcricinfo Ltd

Tellingly, two of the men to stand up in the former leaders’ absence were those who were directly replacing them: Usman Khawaja gliding to a second century of the series to further press his case for World Cup inclusion, and Peter Handscomb providing more than useful support having been promoted to No. 3 after Shaun Marsh was dropped. Finch and the national team coach Justin Langer have spent some months feeling like they were short of viable options; now they find themselves spoiled for batting choice.Equally the Australian effort with the ball and in the field showed an expanding tactical and technical repertoire, as Adam Zampa and Nathan Lyon combined artfully as spin bowlers on a slow, low Feroz Shah Kotla pitch, only a matter of weeks after it appeared that Langer and company had belatedly acknowledged the need to find wicket-taking spinners for the middle overs. Masterful too was Pat Cummins, giving barely anything away, while Marcus Stoinis returned from injury to enjoy his He-Man moment when coaxing an edge from Virat Kohli.India had not lost any ODI series at home since going down 3-2 to South Africa in October 2015. That result arrived only a matter of months after Australia won the previous World Cup so was not considered a major reverse. However this defeat, on the cusp of the IPL, has left India with precious little time to iron out an increasing number of wrinkles. By contrast the Australians can now look forward to a further five matches against Pakistan.Marcus Stoinis is fairly pleased with his work, don’t you think?•Getty Images

India’s chase, and defeat from 2-0 up for the first time in history, opened more than a few questions for Kohli and the coach Ravi Shastri, not least team balance after only three specialist batsmen were selected. With Shikhar Dhawan and Kohli dismissed cheaply, Rohit Sharma seemed weighed down by the task before him, twice offering chances spurned off Zampa’s bowling before charging wildly to be well stumped by Alex Carey. MS Dhoni’s resting for the final two matches provided opportunities for others in India’s middle order, but they were far from taken. All this was after Khawaja’s dismissal in the 33rd over of Australia’s own innings had seen the game change markedly. Jasprit Bumrah’s discipline and wickets shared among the rest meant that the team lost 6 for 54 in 77 balls just as they were looking to accelerate. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ravindra Jadeja were the chief wicket-takers for India, while Ashton Turner and Stoinis were irritated to have failed to go on from their starts. Jhye Richardson and Cummins put on a pesky 34 runs in 2.4 overs and ultimately ensured the Australians would be happy with their total.Despite Australia’s record-breaking chase in Mohali, led by Turner, Finch chose to bat first and attempt to put scoreboard pressure on India, who also made a couple of changes, calling in Jadeja and Mohammed Shami while dropping Yuzvendra Chahal and KL Rahul.Shami and Bhuvneshwar floated the ball full in the early overs in search of swing, but slipped obligingly into the driving zones of Khawaja and Finch as the tourists made a fluent start. Khawaja in particular was punishing on balls either too straight or too short, while Finch was for the most part content to bat in his partner’s slipstream. Neither batsman was overly troubled as they rattled to 76, and it took an excellent delivery from Jadeja, spinning past the outside edge of Finch’s bat and clattering off stump, to separate them.Adam Zampa is starting to bamboozle more and more batsmen in international cricket•Getty Images

Handscomb was quickly into stride however, maintaining the momentum from his Mohali innings by finding the boundary while rotating strike expertly with Khawaja, who was soon saluting his second century of the series. It was his third in international cricket since he returned from knee surgery with a hundred against Sri Lanka in Canberra last month. At 175 for 1 with 17.1 overs left, a major score seemed likely, but when Khawaja picked out Kohli at cover, causing the Indian captain to hurl the ball into the turf as he released his frustration, the game began to shift in momentum. The ball was ageing, the pitch slowing, and new entrants to the crease found the going harder. Glenn Maxwell shaped to hit Jadeja inside out but could not clear cover, Handscomb’s innings ended when he was surprised by extra lift from a Shami delivery he wanted to run down to third man, and Turner’s follow-up innings to Mohali ended when he miscued Kuldeep Yadav to long-on after he had lifted the left-arm wristspinner for six.At the other end Stoinis soaked up 16 dot balls out of 27 faced before dragging Bhuvneshwar onto the stumps, but Richardson and Cummins were able to pull together a priceless stand in the closing overs to push Australia’s total past 270. From a point where Kohli’s men had looked likely to need to beat the previous record chase at the ground – 281 in 1982 – they were ultimately left with a target of more modest dimensions.Kedar Jadhav punches through covers•Getty Images

Much depended on how the hosts could start, and though there was a sprinkling of boundaries against the new ball, Cummins’ dismissal of Dhawan opened up the opportunity to hunt Kohli’s wicket while the ball was still new. Cummins and Richardson were unable to find a way through, but Stoinis, bowling across the seam and finding extra bounce, did the trick by finding a thin edge through to an exultant Carey.Rishabh Pant threatened for a while, but was becalmed and then dismissed by Lyon’s offbreaks, prodding at a delivery that turned and bounced, offering a catch to Turner at slip. Vijay Shankar also made a start, only to sky Zampa to Khawaja at deep midwicket, and when Rohit was dropped off consecutive Zampa deliveries – first a thin edge through to Carey and then a catch by Maxwell at cover – Indian frustration was clear.Zampa did not have to wait long to celebrate, for in his next over Rohit ran down the wicket, was beaten between bat and pad and clearly stumped by Carey after he had stayed admirably low with the ball. Ravindra Jadeja had not scored when he stretched forward and was beaten by a Zampa wrong’un with Carey again in position for a stumping, this time achieved by the barest of margins as the left-hander’s foot was deemed to be stuck on the line and not behind it.That left India 132 for 6 and seemingly in quicksand. Bhuvneshwar and Kedar Jadhav got the equation down to 50 off 25 balls with a nifty union of 91 that brought the crowd to life and had Finch nervously drying the ball as late evening dew began to settle. But Cummins returned to have Bhuvneshwar miscuing to mid-off, and the very next ball Jadhav was well pouched by a running Maxwell off Richardson, leaving Stoinis to complete formalities by knocking out Kuldeep’s middle stump. At the boundary’s edge Langer, so frazzled for much of the past 10 months, raised two arms in triumph.
