O técnico André Jardine destacou a maneira como a Seleção Brasileira se consolidou para alcançar o ouro nos Jogos Olímpicos de Tóquio. Em entrevista coletiva após a vitória por 2 a 1 sobre a Espanha neste sábado, o comandante canarinho reconheceu que a final teve contornos desafiadores e valorizou a capacidade da equipe se adaptar.

-Foi uma característica no planejamento da nossa equipe para Olimpíada. Queríamos ter uma defesa capaz de se adaptar aos diferentes sistemas de jogo, e o adversário de hoje foi do nível mais alto possível. A Espanha tem conceitos ofensivos no sangue, cuida bem da bola, não entrega. Devido ao pouco tempo de treinamento, Soubemos disputar um jogo de paciência, resiliência, aproveitar as oportunidades – e frisou:

– Seria um jogo minucioso, de execução difícil. Passamos por dificuldades. Queríamos ser mais agressivos, mas a Espanha neutralizou nossas ações em mais de um momento. A atuação não chegou a ter perfeição tática, mas coroa a atitude, o comprometimento de quem sonhou muito em ser campeão olímpico – completou.

Jardine destaco o longo projeto até os Jogos Olímpicos.

– Este momento começou em 2019, no Pré-Olímpico. É a coroação de um trabalho que a CBF levou muito a sério. A gente sabia da responsabilidade que seria defender o ouro, se organizou, tentou dar a estrutura. Desde o Torneio de Toulon, tentamos contar com os melhores jogadores – e destacou os atletas:

– Eles foram muito firmes ao se posicionarem perante seus clubes. Vai muito mérito para eles. Sempre torço para que a seleção que melhor se preparou vença. A gente se preparou muito – complementou.

O treinador evitou falar sobre os próximos passos nas seleções de base.

– O foco foi tão grande na Olimpíada que a gente não se permitiu pensar na linha de visão além dela. Queríamos viver essa final, sonhávamos em ganhar. É a realização de um sonho e não encontro palavras para descrever o que estou sentindo. Sei que a Seleção sub-20 está tendo dificuldades em relação ao calendário, mas ainda vamos ver quais serão nossos próximos passos. Mas primeiro vamos comemorar bastante – afirmou.

According to a recent report from the Standard, Everton's star midfielder Amadou Onana is one of the options Arsenal have looked at ahead of the summer transfer window.

Alongside the Gunners, the report names Chelsea, Manchester United, and Newcastle United as sides linked to the Belgian and relays an interview with Het Laatste Nieuws, in which he proclaimed his desire to play for a "top club."

The story doesn't mention a potential price, but a Football Insider report from late last week claimed the Toffees might be willing to accept a £50m offer for the "dominant" midfielder, as dubbed by talent scout Jacek Kulig, due to concerns over PSR.

It would be an expensive and potentially challenging deal to negotiate for Edu and Co, but with Zubimendi looking likely to stay in Spain, it might be one worth pursuing.

How Onana compares to Zubimendi

Now, with a deal for Zubimendi looking increasingly unlikely, it would be worth seeing how the Spaniard compares to Onana, to determine if the Everton ace would be a good substitute, or even an upgrade.

The first thing to note is that the pair essentially play in the same position, with the Spaniard starting 38 games as a defensive midfielder and five as a central midfielder this season, while the Belgian has started 17 games in both areas of midfield, and as such neither one has registered over four goals this season.

However, the differences between the pair become more apparent when looking at their underlying numbers.

Moreover, he may well be more useful in a deeper role for the Gunners, as he makes and wins more tackles, completes more ball recoveries, wins more aerial duels, miscontrols the ball less often and is dispossessed less frequently as well, all per 90.

Ultimately, while missing out on Zubimendi is far from ideal, Everton's "monster duel-winner," as described by analyst Raj Chohan, looks like he might be the better option anyway.

The BCCI has roped in UK-based company Sportradar to detect betting irregularities during IPL 2020.”As part of the agreement, all matches in IPL 2020 will be monitored by Sportradar’s Integrity Services to detect betting irregularities,” a statement released by the company on Thursday said. “Sportradar will also provide a risk assessment to the BCCI, driven by intelligence and data-driven insights. Furthermore the BCCI will be able to call upon Sportradar’s Intelligence and Investigation Services during the term of the partnership, if required.”An IPL source, who confirmed the development to PTI, said: “Sportradar has very recently red flagged at least half a dozen games in the Goa football league that came under a fixing cloud. They have also worked with FIFA, UEFA and various leagues across the globe.”The BCCI Anti-Corruption Unit has, in recent times, tracked unusual betting patterns during state T20 leagues, including the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), as a major betting company stopped taking bets after unusual bets were being placed.According to Sportradar, its Fraud Detection System (FDS) “is a unique service that identifies betting-related manipulation in sport. This is possible due to the FDS’s sophisticated algorithms and constantly maintained database of odds, which are leveraged for the purpose of detecting match-fixing.”It is believed that the company tracks the odds and movements of at least 600 independent bookmakers to detect anomalies in betting patterns. It is a “sophisticated model”, which monitors live betting during an event.”There are 25 live alerts, which instantly identify irregular betting in the marketplace,” The Sportradar website says. “The mathematical model uses calculated odds, which runs alongside bookmakers’ odds, in order to highlight if the odds during a specific minute or time is out of line, and therefore, potentially suspicious.”There are also “44 detailed pre-match alerts, which are based on odds movements observed at betting operators”.”An alert is generated in FDS when odds at a bookmaker changes greater than pre-defined parameters.”

Whilst a whole host of names have been suggested, the most prominent links have seen the Wearside outfit rumoured with a move for highly-rated managers Marti Cifuentes and Liam Rosenior. Cifuentes steered a once relegation-bound QPR side to a comfortable 18th place whilst Rosenior fell agonisingly short of the playoffs before being sacked by Hull City.

Despite their lack of a manger, Sunderland still appear eager to get deals done for new playing talent. The Black Cats have previously been linked with a move for Valencia B youngster Declan Frith, who is also a target for Watford. The 22-year-old winger is yet to make an appearance for Valencia's first team, meaning that he will no doubt be eager for a move away from Spain this summer.

With Kyril Louis-Dreyfus clearly not shy of getting deals done early, Sunderland seem to have been given a boost in their pursuit of a new striker.

Black Cats could get January target for free

As first reported by The Sunderland Echo, the Spanish media are stating that Musa Drammeh has not been offered a new contract at Sevilla, meaning that he will be able to leave on a free transfer this summer.

The Black Cats have been interested in the striker for some time with the club launching a failed pursuit of the 22-year-old back in January. Whilst Sunderland's desire to get a deal done has been known for some time they are reportedly now joined by fellow EFL sides Cardiff City and Birmingham City in the race for Drammeh's signature.

After finding the back of the net on ten occasions for Sevilla's reserves last season, it is clear why Louis-Dreyfus is pushing to get a deal done. The Gambian forward also contributed three assists during a campaign that saw him play as both a right winger and a centre forward.

The Gambian's versatility will be a huge asset to whoever occupies the dugout at the Stadium of Light at the beginning of next season. Whilst Drammeh boasts suitors from across the EFL, Sunderland's proven track record in giving significant minutes to young talents may be what tempts the 22-year-old towards Wearside this summer.

With the Black Cats willing to spend money to get a deal done in January, there is little doubt that they will consider returning for the striker during the window and get their man without needing to open their chequebook.
